Vehicle & Traffic Law § 509-1-a is specific to drivers of commercial motor vehicles. For all commercial motor vehicles, there will be specific endorsement that reflects the type of person allowed to operate it, or the cargo being transported.
Whenever the endorsement is violated, either by the driver or the cargo, a violation for the above charge will be issued. Fines range from $75-$300. It carries no points but will likely appear in the driving history.
