Cayuga County, New York
Cayuga County is a county in New York State. The county makes up eight hundred and sixty-four square miles. Its shape is somewhat peculiar, as it is narrow but long. The top portion of the county is the southern shore of Lake Ontario. The southern part of the county reaches the Central New York region, and ends just north of Ithaca city. Cayuga County is also considered part of the Finger Lakes region. It encompasses parts of Skaneateles Lake, Owasco Lake, and Cayuga Lake. , the county was home to approximately 74,938 residents. Cayuga County was founded in 1799 and named after the Cayuga Native American people. The county encompasses twenty-three towns and the small city of Auburn.

The village, located in Mentz, is known as Port Byron. As a result of the passing interstate, these municipalities see more traffic violations than the rest. The speed limit on I-90 is 65 miles per hour unless otherwise posted. The New York State Police patrol I-90 exclusively and conduct traffic stops for a variety of reasons, but mostly for speeding.
