The town of Clarence is located in northern Erie County, New York. It is 23 miles northeast of the city of Buffalo. As of August of 2021, the town population was 33,498. The town was named after Prince William, Duke of Clarence and St. Andrews , King George III’s third son. Clarence was the first town to be established in Erie County, occurring in 1808.
