Town of Covington, New York
Covington is a town in Wyoming County, New York. It is located approximately forty miles southwest of Rochester and approximately fifty miles east of Buffalo. , the town's population was estimated at 1,400. Covington encompasses twenty-six square miles, most of which is farmland. Dairy farming is the main form of agriculture, followed by some vegetable, wheat, and corn growing. The town encompasses the hamlets of Covington Center, LaGrange, Pearl Creek, Peoria, and Spragues Corners.

Covington does not have its own police department. The town receives police services from Troop "A" of the New York State Police and the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. Three large roads pass through town. These roads are New York State Route 19 (Pavilion Warsaw Road), New York State Route 246 (Perry Road), and New York State Route 63 (Big Tree Road). NYS-19 serves the northwest corner of the town and brings motorists between Warsaw in the south and LeRoy in the north. NYS-63 serves the northeast corner of the town and brings motorists between the village of Geneseo in the east and the city of Batavia to the northwest. NYS-246 runs north-south straight through the center of the town. It meets NYS-63 near the north town boundary, where it terminates. The rest of town is made up of smaller local roads that lead back to one of the three aforementioned arterial ones.
