Fight your Traffic Ticket in
Evans & Angola, New York

Evans is a town in Erie County, New York. The town’s western border is twelve miles of Lake Erie waterfront. The town population, as of July of 2020, was 16,260. Evans is considered a suburb of Buffalo. The town is comprised of various hamlets and communities.

The village of Angola is within Evans and is the location of town offices and town departments. The Evans Police Department provides police coverage for the entire town, including the village. However the village has its own justice court that handles exclusively village matters. The Evans Town Court adjudicates all other town issues over which they retain subject matter jurisdiction.

The Evans Town Court and Angola Village Court handle traffic violations. The Evans court deals with a lot of traffic citations because of the busy highways that go through the town.

Three roads run between Pennsylvania State Line and the City of Buffalo: Interstate 90, US-20, and NYS-5. These roads run through Evans and are known locally as the Thruway (I-90), Southwestern Boulevard (US-20) and Erie Road (NYS-5).

The Thruway is two lanes in each direction, divided by a grassy median. The speed limit is 65 mph. The highway is patrolled by Troop A of the New York State Police. Southwestern Boulevard is one lane in each direction. The speed limit is 55 mph with reduced speed limits in certain areas. Erie Road is the main commercial strip. It is two lanes in each direction with no median and the speed limit is mostly 55 mph. There are some dips in the speed limit and these spots turn into speed traps.

Other town and village roads include Sturgeon Points Road (CR-18), Eden Evans Center Road (CR-32), Gowans Road (CR-489), Pontiac Road (CR-490), and Delamater Road (CR-477). The US-20, NYS-5, and other local roads, are mostly patrolled by Evans Town Police. The Thruway is patrolled by New York State Police.
