Fredonia is a relatively large village in Chautauqua County, New York. It is right near the eastern shore of Lake Erie. The village is within the Town of Pomfret and just south of the City of Dunkirk. . As of January of 2022, Fredonia’s population was 10,255, making it the most populated village in the county. SUNY Fredonia is located in the village, so it is considered a “college town”. Fredonia was first incorporated in 1829.
