Ontario County is the name of a county in New York State. It is named after Lake Ontario. The southern shore of Lake Ontario is roughly twenty miles north of the Ontario County line. The county’s main city is Rochester, in neighboring Monroe County. Most of Ontario County is considered part of the Rochester City Metropolitan area. Ontario County is also considered part of the Finger Lakes region of New York State. The county encompasses parts of Canandaigua Lake, Seneca Lake, Hemlock Lake, Canadice Lake, and Honeoye Lake. , the county population was approximately 113,000.
