Ripley is a town in Chautauqua County, New York. It is located on the eastern edge of Lake Erie. , the town population was estimated at 3,000. Ripley was settled around 1804 and was named after the United States Army General, Eleazer Wheelock Ripley, who served in the War of 1812. Ripley consists of the hamlets of East Ripley, Forsyth, Minnegar Corners, Shore Haven, South Ripley, State Line, and Wattlesburg.
