Schuyler (pronounced SKY-ler) County is a county in New York State. It was founded in 1854 and named after Philip Schuyler, an American General in the Revolutionary War. , it was home to approximately 17,600 residents. Schuyler County is the second least populous county in New York State and tenth smallest in size. The county is made up of eight towns and six villages. The closest cities are in neighboring counties, the cities of Corning and Elmira to the south, and Ithaca City to the east.
