Shelby is a town in Orleans County, New York. It is located roughly forty miles east of the City of Niagara Falls. The town encompasses the southern part of the village of Medina. The northern portion of the village is in the town of Ridgeway. The town also encompasses the hamlets of Millville, East Shelby, West Shelby, and Shelby Center. Most of Shelby is farmland and it covers forty-seven square miles. , the town was home to an estimated total of 5,100 people.
