Carlton is a town in Orleans County, New York. It is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, around forty miles west of Rochester. Most of the town is made up of various farms. Carlton is crossed by two large streams: Oak Orchard River and Johnsons Creek. The total town area is forty-four square miles. , Carlton was home to approximately 2,800 residents.
