Marilla is a rural town in Erie County, New York. It is considered part of the Western New York region and is located twenty miles east of Buffalo. As of January of 2022, the town population was 5,488. Marilla covers twenty-eight square miles and was first settled in 1827. In 1853, the town was organized and received its name. The town’s name was derived from one of the town’s first teachers, Marilla Rogers. Several hamlets make up the town. They are known as Bush Gardens , Porterville and Williston.
