Town of Newfane, New York
Newfane is a town in Niagara County, New York. It is located on the Lake Ontario shore, approximately thirty miles northeast of Niagara Falls and approximately forty miles northeast of Buffalo. It is considered part of the Western New York Region., the estimated town population was 9,200. The town covers roughly 55 square miles and was established in 1824 by settler Wesley R. Rupert. The neighboring towns are Hartland and Somerset to the east, Lockport to the south, and Wilson to the west.

New York State Route 78 (Lockport-Olcott Road) stretches north-south through town along Eighteen Mile Creek and meets NYS-18 in Olcott. NYS-78 acts as the primary road in the hamlet of Burt and continues south, passing the principal hamlet of Newfane. NYS-78 leads into the hamlet of Corwin, and finally terminates in the very southern hamlet of Wrights Corners. In the southeast portion of town, New York State Route 104 (Ridge Road) very briefly falls under Newfane’s jurisdiction. Most of the town’s east section is served by County Route 24 (Hess Road), which connects to both NYS-104 in the south and NYS-18 in the north.
