Niagara County is a county in the northwest corner of New York State. It is part of the Western New York region. The shore of Lake Ontario forms the northern county line. To the west is the international border with Canada. Orleans County is to the east and Erie County is to the south. Niagara County was founded in 1808. It contains three cities and twelve towns. , the combined total population of Niagara County was estimated to be around 209,000. The county is most well-known for its namesake, the Niagara Falls.
