Hartland is a rural town in Niagara County, New York. It is considered part of the Western New York Region and is located approximately thirty miles northeast of the Niagara Falls., the town population was estimated at 3,800. Hartland was settled in 1812 and was a prominent commercial area until the completion of the Erie Canal in 1824. Hartland consists of several hamlets such as Jeddo, Johnson Creek, North Hartland, and North Ridgeway. In the southeast corner of town is the village of Middleport. It is split between Hartland and Royalton, with most of the village located in the latter.
