Somerset is a rural town in Niagara County, New York. The northern town line is Lake Ontario. Somerset is considered part of the Western New York region and is approximately 50 miles northeast of Buffalo. , Somerset’s population was estimated at 2,500. The town was established in 1823 and covers roughly thirty-eight square miles. Somerset consists of several hamlets and one central village known as Barker (not to be confused with the Town of Barker in Broome County).
