Persia is the name of a town in Cattaraugus County, New York. The town covers twenty-one square miles and is mostly rural. It is irregularly shaped, with its length nearly double its width. , Persia's population was estimated at 2162. The village of Gowanda is the main population area of the town and the location of town offices. The village is at the northern part of the town. It is also partially located in Collins, a town north of Persia in Erie County. The area is known as the Western New York region and the town is approximately forty miles south of Buffalo.
