Byron is a farming town in Genesee County, New York. It is located around twenty-five miles west of downtown Rochester and around fifty miles east of Buffalo. The communities in the town are Byron Center, Pumpkin Hill, and South Byron. , the estimated town population was 2,300. The town was founded in 1820. Byron was home to roller coaster engineer Lina Beecher (1841-1915) who built the first looping roller coaster, Flip Flap Railway.
