Elba is a town in Genesee County, New York. It is located approximately forty miles west of Buffalo and approximately thirty miles east of Rochester. Most of the town is farmland. The town includes the Village of Elba. It also encompasses the small communities of East Elba, Five Corners, and Langton Corners. , the total population was estimated to be 2,200.

Elba is located a few minutes north of I-90 (New York State Thruway) via exit 48. Running north-south through the center of town is New York State Route 98 (Oak Orchard Road). It is the town’s main road. Heading east and west across town are several county routes and one state road. The County Routes are County Route 7 (CR-7), County Route 12 (CR-12), and County Route 16 (CR-16). CR-12 serves the northern portion of town while CR-16 and CR-7 serve the western and eastern parts of central Elba. New York State Route 262 (Drake Street and Old Ford Road) intersects NYS-98 near the south part of town.
Traffic tickets in Elba are issued by the New York State Police and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. The town does not have a local police force. Most violations are issued on the main road, NYS-98. The most common charge is speeding. The Elba Town Court (Elba Justice Court) adjudicates these violations. The court uses the Oakfield Town Court for its courtroom. It is located at the Oakfield Community & Government Center in the neighboring village of Oakfield.
