Orleans County is a county in New York State. It is considered part of the Western New York region. Lake Ontario is to the north, Genesee County to the south, Monroe County to the east, and Niagara County to the west. Orleans County covers a total area of eight hundred and seventeen square miles. Just north of the village, NYS-98 intersects NYS-104, which heads east and west. Taking this road west will bring you towards the City of Lockport. Taking NYS-104 east will bring you to the Rochester area.

The local roads are mostly patrolled by town and village police departments in conjunction with the Orleans County Sheriff's Department. The New York State Police tend to focus their efforts on the Interstates, but they occasionally patrol the local roads as well.
